After the Test series, Joseph was supposed to go to the Dubai Capitals, but the toe injury has changed his timetable. After recovering at home, the West Indian will now focus on the Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he was signed by Peshawar Zalmi to take Gus Atkinson’s spot.

On the third day of the Gabba Test, Mitchell Starc yorker struck Joseph on the toe, causing the injury. On the fourth day of the Test, the 24-year-old was found to be free of any suspected toe fractures.

On the fourth day, however, Joseph persevered through tremendous discomfort to unleash a spell that would go down as one of the finest in Test history. His outstanding stats of 7 for 68 spurred the West Indies to their first victory on Australian territory since 1997, a historic eight-run victory.

Joseph said after his Gabba exploits that he will play for the West Indies regardless of whether he received rich contracts from T20 leagues. “I’ll always be here to represent the West Indies in Test cricket. I will speak this in public without fear. I will always be ready to play for the West Indies no matter how much money comes towards me, the bowler told ESPNCricinfo. “There will be times when T20 might come around and Test cricket will be there.”
